She married Thomas Ferris, son of Thomas Ferris and Catherine Skelton, on 10 March 1865 at Anglers Row, Dalry Parish, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 Mary Jane Barris died on 5 September 1930 at Lowell, Middlesex, Mass.2 She was buried on 7 September 1930 at Edson Cemetery Lowell, Middlesex, Mass.3,4

     Mary Jane Barris and her three youngest children immigrated to the Port of Boston on the SS Phoenician, 1493 tons, arriving on 7 September 1882. She was passenger number NN. The four orphaned children of her brother Joseph Barris accompanied her on the voyage.5
On 12 August 1926, Mary Jane Barris was listed as an heir-at-law and next of kin in the probate of her sister, Eliza A Barris, at The Probate Court, Cambridge, Middlesex, Mass. She was living in Lowell.
