Moody Russell was born at Barnstable, Barnstable, Mass, on 30 August 1694.¹ He was baptized on 2 September 1694 at Barnstable, Barnstable, Mass; B. Church Records, 1639-1892, 98. He married Dinah Sturgis, daughter of Thomas Sturgis, on 23 August 1724 at Barnstable, Barnstable, Mass.² Moody Russell died on 3 July 1761 at Barnstable, Barnstable, Mass, at age 66; Barnstable, Plymouth Colony Records, Vol 1, p. 697.³

Moody Russell was apprenticed to his uncle, Edward Winslow, about 1707. His brother, Joseph, was also apprenticed to him about 1715; was a silversmith in Boston. Two of his nephews were apprenticed to him, Moody Russell in 1707, and Joseph Russell in 1715.
